Sun shining on the crest of this cockatoo visiting my bush home sets it aglow. Nov. 11, 2009
cockatoo, native bird meg hart
Just a point and shooter, hoping to catch something special.
Hehehe perfect title and interesting light on his crest!
– Meg Hart
Great characters these… lovely shot.
Lovely to have you visit Phillip…thank you for the compliment…I have a love/hate relationship with the little blighters…I love the boldness and cheekiness of them…the walk.!..the talk !…but I’m not so pleased when they decide to eat my log cabin home, or vandalise my plants..!
After your last comment to Phillip, I was about to say how much I Love Cocky’s, but I guess I wont now… Love the sunlight in his crest.
You’re allowed to love cockies…I do.. (even though sometimes I’d like togive them a good smack – if I knew which were the culprits).
You are lucky to have them around, I only get them sometimes. But Roos are another matter! like you I love them ,but I sometimes think I am raising a herd of roos and not cows!
I would have thought Reggie would keep them at bay (not relentlessly chasing them, of course, as this causes them so much stress they can die) but I guess he’s trained to leave them alone…or maybe he likes them too..!
And aren’t these magnificent birds Meg, wonderful capture of sun on the comb. I love the Kookaburra on your hand in your identity shot. We obviously enjoy like things. Poor word but you know what I mean. Where about’s in bush are you?
Hi Rita…so glad you like my cocky shot…Yes, I love my little buddy, Chuckles..he’s so cool…..He only comes around from time to time….so happily he’s not dependent on the titbits I give him…I am in the Wombat State Forest and, no, I’ve never encountered one…lol.
Oh…and as a relative beginner, I’m always thrilled when I get a fave..ta ever so.
Pleasure Meg I know the feeling. Our poor Wombats are suffering along the Riverland, luckily there is a group striving to save them. A lot of the burrows have been ripped and due to the drought they were in dire straits anyway. I saw a programme on TV recently about their plight. Pity all our native animals are being displaced they are so unique.
What a spectacular catch of the sun on his feathers – just like a royal crown!!!! I love it!! Saw your daughter’s site too and linked here – my goodness you two are so talented!!! xx
What lovely comments maxy…thank you so much from Georgie and me for your interest and encouragement…You’ve made my day.
well done , meg – wonderful light in this!
Glad you like my cheeky visitor nadine…thanks for looking.
Glad you like it pf…thanks for looking.
Perfect timing and use of backlight! I can’t imagine what it must be like to have beautiful birds like this in the wild! I’m green with envy!!! ;o)
They are fun guys Krys, but can also be very naughty, breaking off plants, etc., but I just take the good with the bad :)……thank you for your lovely comments.
