Just wondered if any one else has had this happen to them.
I bought a framed print before christmas from RB, and now have recieved a letter saying I should have been charged £29.78 when I took delivery of it, this is for payment for import Tax and Duty which is put on the parcel once it arrives in the UK.
My partner bought a framed print too before Christmas but as yet has not been asked to pay this.
What make this worse for me is that the frame was damaged on my print and they are sending a replacement so I will be charged again!.
Can anyone advise?.

This is crazy! that charge is a lot to pay and then to have to again when you receive the other, i think this will stop a lot of people in the Uk from buying! i was about to buy but i think i will leave it now, well at least on the framed print side, i will still buy some cards.
Hope you get it sorted!

I’ve not personally had the problem but I have heard about it. Some people seem to get hit & others don’t. I bought goods a while back & didn’t cop any extra charge. Citizens Advice might be a good port of call prior to HM Customs & Excise Revenue. You certainly shouldn’t pay twice.

Customs and Excise here in the U.K. is so hot. When I used to buy from Ebay.com I got caught almost all of the time by C&E..and the only way I got over this was to as the seller to Mark the item as GIFT and lower the value of it.If RB put the actual value on the parcel..IE over the value of $25..Customs will always knobble you.
I wonder if Rb would mark the item as a Gift and minimise the value of the item…this is the only I know to get over this problem..hope it works out for you,but you shouldn’t be penalised again for sure.

Maybe things have changed since you added this journal entry, but isn’t it the case that Red Bubble produce any orders here in the UK for us UK buyers, regardless of where the artwork originates? Forgive me if I’ve got this 100% wrong!

Hi Steve,
I shoud have updated this journal. The items I ordered came from Australia but we are not supposed to pay the import duty RB is meant too. But.. UPS (the delivery company) don’t always know that. When my replacement framed print came after Christmas I refused delivery as they still wanted me to pay the import duty. I then informed RB and they paid it. Hopefully this matter has been resolve in the UK now.
