About This Painting
Chopping down forests should be an International Crime against the environment. Here in New Zealand we’ve seen the results of mass deforestation of the high country. Briefly put, the land ends up in the tide – with flooding and destruction along the way.

Only huge reforestation programs saved our inland Hawkes Bay high country from total destruction. It had been clkeared of native forest for grazing.

Taking away forest cover and turning wilderness into badly-managed “production” – be it in the fragile high country or on the equally sensitive lowlands – is a disaster – locally, nationally and globally.

Acrylic on Arches 160gsm 19 × 24.5 in. I enjoy working with acrylics because while they can be used like oils, they can also painted wet-on-wet in a much looser style
