About This Painting
Wet-on-wet Acrylic on 160gsm Arches Dessein Paper – 30in x 25.5in. Rainbow Falls is close to Kerikeri, about 35 km (20 miles) from where I live.
Nearby is New Zealand’s most historic place, the Kerikeri Inlet and Basin, site of the old Stone Store (oldest stone building 1833), and the Kerikeri Mission House (oldest wooden building, about the same vintage). The water that comes over the Falls flows on past the Store and Mission House and empties itself into the Inlet.
The falls are not big by world standards, but a surprising volume of water can come down, and the road bridge across the river at the Kerikeri Basin has just been removed due to the danger of flooding after really heavy rains. Below is a photo of the falls by James Shook from the Wikimedia commons:

This is beautiful work Patricia. The colours are so vibrant yet silky, what medium did you use? It has the flow & strength of inks.
