About This Photograph
This is a photo of a sculpture I made a few years ago. I’d made the original, made the mould, and made the wax prepatory to having it cast in bronze and then my mom got really sick.

Since then I’ve decided bronze, for all its “high profile”, is not really my thing, so my output in that direction will stop at a few other pieces I’ve already had cast. I’ve had health problems with epoxy, which I’ve used quite a lot in the past. So meantime, while I work out the next direction, this remains as a wax – and I thought I’d share it.

The sculpture features the unfolding fern shape or Koru as a symbol of the earth, nature, and ‘beginning’. The hollow globe which is its main feature is made up of intertwining Korus, and it was my intention to show the point of creation when earth was handed over to mankind to steward – sadly, that’s a commission we haven’t made a very good job of carrying out.

Sculpture 15" high.
