Two colorful chestnut adult horses, one a pinto, stand watch over a chestnut overo pinto foal during the drowsy time of mid-morning on a sunny summer’s day. I used lavendar, yellow-green, and grass green to suggest the warmth and light of the day.
Velveteagle, thank you! I see that you like to photograph butterflies – I confess to being fascinated by macro photography, and doing it now and then purely for pleasure. Yours are gorgeous.
Thank you to louisegreen and Tahnja for your kind comments! My paintings are always based on field reference – there’s a fabulous herd of paints way out a lonely road in Wyoming I like to visit and photograph…great stuff!

A very special painting, something sweet. Excellent attention to the details and colours. I love how you add shine and muscles so well in these.
Warm and vibrant colours again!!! Exceptionally beautiful! What support do you use?
Beautiful, Julie! Wow! And you sure have the eyes down pat. They’re sometimes, to me, the hardest part because they’re so expressive.
Hey Julie, congratulations on being featured!!! GO GIRL! Even a thumbnail of your beautiful work jumps off the page!
Hi Julie, I just love this!! Fabulous work!
