Forever full of raindrops.
Each drop of rain
Is a single thought
That cascades through my mind,
And falling with a splash,
As my thoughts forever alter.
The raindrops in my mind
Are beautiful,
Magical,
Deserve to be adored,
Because each is a thought
From my precious mind,
And none should go to waste.
No two drops are exactly the same,
But they all start out as clouds.
It’s in the clouds where my head always is,
Trying to make sense of it all,
But I never can,
It always ends with pouring rain,
And I stand helpless,
My efforts to try and savour every drop
Always seem to be in vain.
I’ve often wondered why
The English hate the rain,
And why they say it’s cold and grey and lonely,
Because the rain in my mind trickles with colour,
My thoughts are too fleeting to lose their heat,
And they often crash together loudly.
Rainfall’s pure,
And like my mind,
It can never be understood.
People often think me crazy,
And to be fair, this may be true,
Because why do I run into the street,
In the pouring rain,
Catching raindrops and a cold,
When I really don’t need to?
I could watch the rain fall
Through the glass, like Alice,
Looking through a window.
But if I only watched my thoughts
From a distance
And never tried to catch them,
Or chase them,
Or sometimes let them shatter,
I’d be nothing more than a fool.

I am English and I love the rain. It cleanses the world, washes the heavy air of my troubles. People run from the rain but to stand alone in isolation in the rain is freedom to be who you are. A lovely piece julia. puts me in my raining countryside:) x

You’re clearly a mad Englishman, haha :D

the scots are completely bonkers. It’s the highlands you know, so many lochs and glens, enough to drive any man wild. x
Julialala replied
And I’m sure the kilts and Whiskey sour don’t help either! Haha
But, they are amazing musicians, so perhaps there’s a method to the madness. :D

its the long nights. tee hee .lets face it,the only way i will get into a kilt is if i have been drinking whiskey. They do have a great folk heritage, no denigning. x

Ooh, wow, I’m speechless (well, almost). This is fantastic! Love the extended metaphor here and how it sometimes wavers fully into reality, like at the end. Beautifully done . . .
