On a recent very wet , disaster of a holiday in Wales This was the one gem i discovered The abbey is set next to a caravan park , just off the road side , very easy to miss!

Valle Crucis Abbey , Llangollen ,Wales
Founded for the monks of the Cistercian order in 1201 Closed down in 1537 during Henry VIII dissolution of the monasteries
It has a fish pond , which is a unique feature to survive

    Oh the times I’ve seen this place and wondered how the devil you get in there, I managed it after about five ‘This can’t be it, it’s a blimmin carvan site’ attempts.
    Shame about the holiday, I was in Llangollen last week and it was nice and sunny.

    Love the stone arches and texture of the stone. Sounds like you must of had a very wet time in Wlaes.
