A trip out to the countryside was in order yesterday with the spring thaw and mild temperatures. Drove over to West Montrose to buy some homemade maple tarts at this Mennonite country store. They offer some of the best home-baking and draw visitors from afar. Some people even phone ahead of time to place their orders. If you ever find yourself in the area stop in and say “Hi” to Vera, she always has a friendly smile.

This speaks volumes, Julie! Those tarts sound like they are worth the trip! :)

  • The tarts along are worth the trip Rosemary; then there’s the scenery as an extra bonus…Jules

What I see in tart, sharp to the taste acidic servere ;Keen small open pie ! what also seen is the grey of the moment without color, but influence, life is not always colorful, one of my step mothers was a pastry cook, the Apples, Rasberry, Strawberry, Blueberry, Cherry, even Rubarb ! what a colorful experience ! a part of my mind not used in awhile ! ♥ ♥ lovely moment Refreshed ! Thanks Julie ! ♥ I miss the Wintery colors, Spring is already planning a party ! ♥ It’s no wonder I enjoy your moments shared ! Frenchy ! !

  • Glad to hear Spring is starting to show herself for you Paul: here Winter is still dancing a whirl-wind with few breaks for the sun. …Jules :-)))

Oh! by the way, I’m told I make the best Butter Tarts and an awesome Rhubarb Custard Pie. Too bad they don’t ship well.
