New lens by jujubean

Posted on August 29, 2010

I am pondering on getting a new lens. My portrait work has increased and I really need a lens that will be good for family pics. I LOVE my nifty-fifty for newborn sessions but need something better for say a group shot of more than three. I am thinking of the canon 24-70 but I cant see putting a $1200 lens on my $800 camera!!!! So….I was looking at the tamron, for canon, lenses. I can get a 28-75 lens for half the cost. Does anyone know if this would be a wise choice or should I wait til I can up-grade camera and all??

Thanks! juju

Glass is more important for image quality than the camera so I don’t mind having a 900 Euro lens on a 300 Euro camera…. Good lenses keep their value. There is an equipment forum here with some knowledgeable people if this journal doesn’t give enough feedback. You might mention which camera you are using now.

Thank-you,I would agree with that. I will check out the forum. I shoot with a canon rebel. I want the 50D some day. :)

I have the tamron 28-75mm 1:2.8 macro. I think it is a good lens and would work great for your needs.
