I was walking along the street in Newtown one day when I noticed this alleged tree in front of me… hmmm I thought that’s a most peculiar tree…. I wonder what the council are smoking these days…..then as I wandered on thinking about it I realized that this particular council are really rather good at supporting the arts so maybe this was an ART tree…. maybe a post-modern sort of an art tree or even an ironic sort of an art tree…. so having sorted that out in my mind I was all at peace again….so trees…. they come in some suprising shapes and sizes these days but hey that has to be a good thing…. viva la difference and all that……:)

of course it’s a tree what else would it be??

  • hi Soxy and of course it’s a tree… it says it’s a tree and if that’s what it wants to be then who am I to cast aspersions on it’s treeness….all things should be free to be a tree if that’s what they want to be…..:)

At least it’s a lovely shade of green :)

  • true true… mind you green tree’s are most likely an outdated concept and in the interests of being open to the concept of trees of all colours and shapes and sizes being free to be trees then perhaps we should ignore the rather obviousness of it’s greeness…….:)

    it’s Mel!
you know Juilee…I think if you lifted that little lid a tree would have suddenly grown up from inside

  • hmmm now that’s an interesting concept… maybe it’s a trick tree… you open the lid and add a few drops of water and say a few secret magic words and hey presto … a tree! gee you would want to step back a few steps in case it was a fully formed oak or gum tree or somesuch… :)

    Hey, I LIKE green :)

  • hey me too but we can’t constrain ourselves to the outdated modality of green trees… I mean they can be green if they really want to be green by all means but lets open ourselves to the concept of pink and orange trees and even blue and yellow trees….. and maybe even patterned trees… gee I’d like to see a tartan tree…. :)

I think it is a niche in the wall for a poor departed tree’s ashes … RIP … placed by the ‘greenies’ of course. Well spotted Juilee … my kind of shot!

  • ohhh I like that as a concept… a little shrine to a now departed tree … brought to us by the local greenies…. haha that’s so delicious to think about… thanks Rosalie…..:)

Fantastic! Who needs the real thing when you can just stick a sign in the ground & call it “tree”. While we’re at it we’d better have a “park” and a ‘’lake" and lets find somewhere to put the ’’sunshine’’ too.

  • hey there Rosemary… and yes that’s the spirit… council could save heaps on watering and such like and employing gardeners and tree loppers and all that sort of stuff…. imagine how easy it would be to be a farmer if they could just get lots of little plaques to put in the fields… ’ corn crop ’ or ’ wheat field ’ and so on…. got to be a good idea in a drought as they would take next to no watering……:)

This is fantastic, Juilee! I love it. There is such a deep meaning to this image, great. Rgds, S

  • hi steffen… I’m being a little silly to be honest but not to worry… I have another image a bit like this one somewhere that says…. proposed tree …. and that one always amused me… but this one is just mysterious and silly…. :)

Concrete and steel tree…. progress is infinite

  • life is such a mystery…. and especially the life of the council’s mind in planting these trees along the street… I mean what does it really mean…..a metal tree in the footpath… I can’t even imagine what the implications are for climate change…. :)

Well – my only issue with this tree is that it really only exists for those of the ‘English-speaking (and reading) persuasion…. For me (and you) it’s really just the thing to be a tree – but pity all those poor migrants and refugees who haven’t made it to their ‘English language’ classes yet?
It seems a little beyond the mush in my brain to imagine what exactly this for the english-speaking (and reading) tree may actually be for them?
Maybe a possible deity of the ‘new world’ even?
    ?

  • oh ha yes indeed DragonFlyer….. what does it mean to the non english speaking australians and tourists just meandering up the road… hmmm they think… these astrayliuns are most weird…. weird animals weird accent and very most weird trees….. :)
