I’ve been scanning some older work just of late and thinking about how best to present some of these images. And as dyptich’s and tryptich’s have been all the go around here I thought I do a version here with these two shots of an older more industrial Sydney.

Yep! Looks good! love the negative presentation..

  • thanks jemima and thanks heaps… really trying to format these a bit differently without losing the integrity of the photograph… I’ve got a triple coming up next… these two and another one in the middle…. and thinking they would be big in real life…. it’s been interesting playing with them…….:)

Its fun going through our old negs some of which were hard to use on paper.

I think its a great idea this presentation. Gritty industrial subject and using the negs a part of the pic adds to the effect I think. Showing film was used makes it more older other agy sort of thing.

The more I think about it the more I think what a cool idea

  • hi andy… and thanks hey… I"m going to put up a triple in a bit which is more like what I’d do in a gallery … it’s been fun playing around with the possibilities… and yes all those old negs have to still have some value…… I like to think so anyhow….. :)

So, I see that Sydney hasn’t always been the beautifully presented oasis it is today??

    Gotta love redevelopment!

  • Sydney was not always the shiny city… it has a fully blood and guts history and a very vibrant recent past…. and is and always be a place blessed by much… the harbour being but a part of it……. anyway it has grotty bits and I know where they all are……:)

I really like this, the way you’ve preented it and of course the grainniness. It reminds me of looking at photos from the early 70’s showing industrial estates being built, such a nostalgic feel to this – and to your tryptich, too. :D

  • hi Adriana and thanks… this is the old Reshes site over the road from the parklands on South Dowling street on the edge of Alexandria… you wouldn’t recognize it now… it’s chockers full of high rise apartments…. so it makes me really glad I took advantage of the empty site to take photo’s when I had the chance…. thanks for looking at these… this is how I would put them up in a gallery show…..

I know there’s not much we can do to stand in the way of progress and change, so that’s so good that you’ve taken these shots. I would love to see them when you’re exhibiting them, and yes, they would look perfect just as you’ve made them.

  • thanks Adriana and yes we can only document change and then get out of it’s way I guess…. and yes exhibiting them… I want them to be very large so now all I need is a venue….. :)
