Geneviere's Bier by Juilee Pryor
this is an image of the tiny island that is found in the centre of a minute but magical little lake that is hidden deep inside a misty valley deep with the Hunter Valley. I think of the little lake as Geneviere’s Lake with all it’s connotations of the Authurian stories that filled my head as a child….. the time of Camelot passed into history and coloured the centuries that followed with greatness and with melancholy. Part of the power of the legend was contained in the story of Geneviere and of the Lady of the Lake who keeps the great blade Excalibur safe till it’s time comes again.
A bier is a place where a corpse or coffin rests before burial and this perfect little island in it’s setting of staggering natural beauty is the bier for my understanding of the legacy of the story of Geneviere and the Lady of Shallot.

thanks Linda but when I look at it all I can see is how low the water is.. .this was taken in late January and its so dry…. you can see the water levels clearly on the bank and where the grass is creased on the little island…….. glad you like it though……:)

hi there you… I’m in a dreamy mood…. don’t know what I’ll do with these shots..they were on the role that I pulled the muted landscapes from so really they are like extra shots ..don’t think they will make the final cut for the show but still it’s been nice thinking about this place and its people today while fiddleing about with these…. glad you like this….. it’s in daniland…….:)

it’s such a special place… plus I’m really pleased with the photo’s I took last time I was there……..and there is yet more and all from one tiny roll of film…. it’s so unpredictable working with this film so it’s always good when it yeilds something nice……
