Whoah – powerful stuff Juilee – you’ve really used halftones (and the distortion of the tones themselves) to great effect. Got my vote!

  • Juilee Pryor replied

hey thanks heaps Simon…. it’s a bit odd really …. not completely sure if it is a ‘proper’ half tone…. I kind of made it up as I went a long… but I had fun doing it and will definetly use this method again…. you know… I made this digital dot tone screen and the ‘dirty’ screen ages ago during the london comp when I was upset about photo shirts never getting featured and all the argy bargy about the lack of variety in the designs that get promoted…. and this it the where it’s finally ended up…. so it’s kind of ironic that I’m sticking to my own style and learning new things as well…. and putting it all together somehow…. so I’m really glad you like this…. my own evolution as a designer somehow…. who knows… maybe you’ll be using a camera next… stranger things have happened….. :)

No worries – in my book, there’s never a hard and fast rule for anything when it comes to art – halftones are just another tool in the kit, and the fun’s in experimenting imho.

As for me and cameras – wellll…. perhaps, but there’ll be a LOT of crappy shots (or ‘texture shots’ as I like to think of them – waste not want not) that don’t see the light of day before anyone sees something ;o)

  • Juilee Pryor replied

hey thanks Simon… you know… don’t give up on the photos stuff…. like you say…. it’s just another tool in the kit bag….. and who knows your stuff maybe the next big thing….. :)

this looks fantastic, love all the different textures going on here.

  • Juilee Pryor replied

hi there Miriam and thanks heaps… I think it’s so textured and interesting because I didn’t really quite know what I was doing with the halftones … oh well…. it’s different…...:)

Really cool, I love the grunge feel and the use of halftones is great.

  • Juilee Pryor replied

hi LazerBear….great name btw…. and thanks heaps and heaps…. the grunge thing is just what comes out of me at times… I try to crack the style thing here but I don’t seem to do it so getting cool feedback like this is just wonderful….. cheers ….:)

  • Juilee Pryor replied
