Well here’s to the bale out of Wall Street and to the new look United Socialist States of America were the country’s profits are privatized by the rich for the rich and the losses are socialized for the poor to deal with.

Good timing!
Juilee Pryor replied
thanks MtnMan… yes the news just came through on the radio and the markets here promptly went down….. sheesh….. it’s a blood bath out there… bankers throwing themselves under trains and it’s still very early days with this nightmare money crisis….. it’s going to hurt a real lot of people and it won’t just be Americans who suffer from this…..
peaceofthenorth
qwll put ….send one to G.Bush…he can wear it around the house…steve
Juilee Pryor replied
thanks Steve… I really thought someone stateside would have done this already but believe me the pain from the fallout on this is going to hurt lots and lots of people all over the world so fair enough I reckon….

i meant well put…

“Socialism for the rich” is what we call republican economics.
Juilee Pryor replied
we have lots of middle class welfare here too don’t worry…..

Good one Juilee.
We need a second version for the fund managers of the Superannuation Co’s – you know – the place where the govt makes us put our hard earned money, where they charge us admin fees to make losses for us on their bad investments.
Juilee Pryor replied
I have like totally bugger all in super so that won’t hurt me personally but it’s going to root the future for a whole lot of people…... and pass me the violin so I can ramp up the sympathy for all the poor hedge fund managers and bloated bankers out there about to find out how the other half lives…......
Patricia L. Ba...
Good work, Juilee. You can’t imagine unless you live here how much worse life in this country has gotten during the last 8 years.
Juilee Pryor replied
thanks Pat…. in someways I’m being a bit of a cynic with this shirt but the underlying concept of bailing out bloated bankers from the consequences of their massive greed and avarice is just gobsmacking.
And I’m sure that life is getting really hard there. Zoltan posted this morning talking about the utillites all going up 30% and rent going up and food being so expensive and she has a good job…..
sadly I don’t think the hard times have really begun yet….. the bail out is finger in a dyke sort of stuff…. and if Bush and his buddies keep talking about new wars that he’d like to be getting the country into… Iran, Russia, a new front in Afganistan etc etc et al….. blimey … I’m terrifyed just thinking about it… and I can’t tell you how happy I am not to live in a warloving nation…..
I can only hope that you guys all turn out to vote and that you all vote for the future not the past….. McCain being the past and that utterly terrifying terminator barbie doll who is his sidekick is the most scary prospect for leadership of your country I’ve ever seen. If that person gets into power there will be such a global backlash it will be truly the stuff of nightmares…..

S’funny, it’s like a win-win for mine – the big bailout of incompetent bankers and share-sharks. I need my super rescued and I get the benefit of seeing the inevitable exposure of the rubbish economic principles that under-pin Bush-con-nomics. Even the BBC is calling it the death of the credibility of so-called free market money games. Can you imagine the laughter around government strategy makers tables when the very next free market advocate tries to make a case? Capitalism (in the context of allowing the market shape supply and demand) may well be a good system when you’re talking about micro and small business, but all this latest round of stuff proves it can’t be relied on when trillions of bucks are on the table. (What is a trillion anyway?)
Juilee Pryor replied
HAHA…your asking me what a trillion is….? best thing I’ve heard all day….. my life time as an artist hasn’t exposed me to sums much larger that hundreds at a time… OK sometimes thousands but still…..any figure with more than four or five noughts is all fuzzy and vague in my brain…... :) trillion shmillion …. huge ginormous stupendously massive amounts of money are being talked about and it’s not going to be enough…..if communism doesn’t work and capitalism doesn’t work…. what next and how hard is it going to be to acheive it….?
Adam de la Mare
Love it Juilee!!
Juilee Pryor replied
thanks Adam…. I’m glad you like it…..:)
berndt2
precisely! capitalism my a$$.
Juilee Pryor replied
yes thanks bernd2… it’s a worry all the same though as it all goes down the gurgler…..what next hey?
Col Finnie
“What’s next?” Complete collapse of society as we know it…meaning I get to hang out in leathers, strap a sawn-off shotty to my thigh and convert the ute into an apocalyptic vehicle. Ripper!
Juilee Pryor replied
hey I was thinking Mad Max today my self… yes very likely…. and there was a TV series on a couple of years ago… Dark Angel I think it was called with Jessica Alba in it… any way it was set in the future some time after a huge catostrophic event that had broken America and the huddled masses were everwhere living in cardboard boxes and such like… but there was also all this high tech bionics and gadgetry as well…
so it’s a bit like the coming senario of a deep and bitter correction/depression/ression whatever is somehow something that is already in the collective subconsious….... any way it will all pan out one way or the other…..hang on everybody….. could be a rough ride coming up
berndt2
I think as pointed out that it’s absolutely galling that when times are good, banks and brokers can run rampant in the system making huge profits but then get bailed out when things go wrong. Infinite upside with a protected downside – how come I can’t run my own finances like that?
I can’t get any more cynical about this than I already am. It absolutely proves that the rich and powerful are hand-in-hand in looking after each others’ interests. And if you’re not in their ‘club’, chances are you’ll be paying for their generosity to each other. Marvellous.
Juilee Pryor replied
hi berdt2 yes this whole senario is getting more depressing as we go further into it….. and I don’t think we’ve seen any real indication on how bad this could end up for ordinary people…... this could get really bad …...

Here is a great story on the free market in the USA
Our government has a long history of bailing out private companies:
Chrysler
Airlines
Savings & Loan
Trucker
Here here! check out my new journal entry. I will be emailing it to congress and cnn..etc tonight just sent it to WSJ. Love the shirt but you know deep in my heart I still hope the is some sanity and courage left and maybe even integrity left in America, and not a repeat of the 1930’s sell out in Europe.
Zolton
Good grief do I wish I was European right now. Hee hee. I just got home from watching the Vice Presidential debate. I thought my friend’s veins would pop out of her forehead. We are hoping for the best and hoping everyone gets their votes counted this time. Urg! It will be the largest turn out ever, I am sure.
Juilee Pryor replied
I can only hope that everybody does turn out and use their votes wisely….. the world is watching….. and that means more people than live in Alaska….. crickey that person is a scream isn’t she….. she’d leave me screaming very quickly….. I mean just get Paris Hilton to be VP ….. .she would be just as effective…..
DesignsByDeb
Nice one!
Juilee Pryor replied

Well socialized financial markets, but no health care for the people. I guess when Congress passed that $700 billion dollar bill to save Wall Street, it was a big ol’ f@#k you to the people, eh? Is that offer to move to Oz and hang out with you still on the table Juilee?
Juilee Pryor replied
honey you just come on over.
Oz democracy means it’s compulsory to vote… and to pay a medicare levy so that all people have access to healthcare and it’s also compulsory here to have superannuaton…... everybody must save for retirement….. low income earners who deposit an extra $1000 a year into their super account attract a $1500 bonus from the government and all our new mum’s get a $5000 gift from the government.
why don’t you apply for a Churchchill fellowship or some such thing and come and do a residency at the local Uni….. I’m pretty sure you’d find work here …...
Zolton
A scream indeed. Ha ha… it seems the word nuclear is actually pronounced nucular! Learn something new every day. Paris 2012 – that’s what we are coming to is it? I’m getting those Australia brochures and a passport now! Been thinking about going back to school for nursing. : D
