Urban Landscape # 33 Operator
This is an image from my drive by shooting series which is a series of photographs of illuminated bus stop advertisements. These elegant advertisments were promoting a mobile phone but I see them as little essays on the solitary nature of innercity life. Its a companion image to
Urban Landscape #2 Parramatta Road Bus Stop!

and also
Urban Landscape # 3 Redfern Bus Stop!

Great series, and I love the way you’ve balanced the billboard with just enough details of the surrounding environment

What a great idea for series and their great looking images as well.
Juilee Pryor
Thanks everyone. I really like these images because of the contradiction in them. The adverts are for a mobile phone so really its implying communication and intimacy but the framing late at night on deserted streets speaks more about lonliness and isolation. Which is why I shot them late at night on deserted streets so play up the paradox. I’m so glad you guys like them :)

cool shot!

I’ve come back to this image 3 times, just love the negative space…
Juilee Pryor
thanks docophoto. I try and adhere to the rule of thirds as possible when framing an image to shoot. I very rarely crop or do anything tricky to my images. And the negative space is crucial to impact. Also this image is a little tricky. The light over his head which is really a street light could be subliminally read as a halo. well maybe. :)
