advertising ... the pervasive pornography

hi Helene and thanks…I think we just get so used to advertising being everywhere that we don’t even realize how much we are effected by it… I am currently really annoyed with ‘talking’ ads that pop out all over the place when I’m trying to read the paper online… they drive me nuts…. grrr and all that

I think this is the card people should buy when they want to write to Nesle in regard to their hard core flogging of infant formulas in the third world…. until there is clean water available to mothers there it means the babies all die of gastic illness’s ….. very bad situation….

indeed….. advertising can sometimes back fire though… there was a recent ad campain by a very hip groovy company in Newtown and it consisted of putting up grafitti style ads on ‘famous’ bits of graf… well let me tell you the back lash was immediate and severe…. did not work at all I am glad to say…....

Newtown is the bomb honey and yes the walls are filled with philosphy like this…. and that’s great ….:)

hiya Glen… yes indeed… we get so hung up on rude bits being pornography that we forget that advertising is much more culpable in so many ways….. like Nesle…can’t do that little sqiggley bit but you are most likely across that senerio…. and thanks…..:)

I am so with you Helene… it’s so everywhere… but the pornography of naked women is reasonably obvious… I get more concerned about companys like Nesle flogging infant formulas in third world counties where there is no access to clean water so that babies are taken off the breast and put on the bottle only to die from gastic infections from dirty water used in making up the fake milk products… it’s the unobvious adertising that can be the most pornographic sometimes…...:)

I am so with you there… we spend squillions buy trendy bottled water when our drinking water here is perfect… and that money alone could ensure there was clean water available to communities all over the world… so basic so needed and yet it’s just too hard to do…. and the companies that ship dodgy drugs and supplies that wouldn’t get a chance in hell of getting on the shelves here over to the poor and needy in other places… hell’s to good for buisness’s that do that sort of thing….

hi there najeroux… how to be a graphic designer heyhey… as long it’s done with ethics and humour there is not a problem …. I hope you do really well with it…. it’s only when ad’s pretend to be something else it can slip into porn…. Nesle are my pet peeve at the moment… grrr there are bad consequenses from their drive for profits in the third world and it’s filth to me…love chocolate but would never eat any of theres….. cheers…;)
