thought for the day...... fallen angel
I may have mentioned that I’ve been digitizing a big back catalouge of analouge images and finding all sorts of odd forgotten images like this one. This young sporano was about to put on a vastly elaborate headdress and go out and knock them dead at the Sydney Trade Union Club some time in the early eighties I think, Analouge of course and the film is Ilford FP4.

Micheal I think the symbol on her staff is ancient inner city sydney ,a language that evolved slowly with in its own area and then spread to neighbouring suburbs till it eventually was to be found in use all over the globe. or some such waffle. :) glad you like this little angel

I like the way your thinking oh great rabbitollah sir. maybe food for thought in regard to a new flag…...hmmmmm but a flag for whom I hear you think,,,, just us arseists or for the wider orsralian community or possibly even the world at large…. I mean we have to go intagalactic sooner or later….. may as well go out there to the outer limits with our hearts on our sleeves so to speak …. must find the next photo in this little series….. with the headdress….. its a corker as well if my addled brain is still serving me…...

actually she really was an underground lounge type singer and she was perfoming for a really down dirty performance night at the Sydney Trade Union Club many years ago….. amazing voice though….. just amazing….naughty naughty girl though…....:)

Is Illford FP4 a B&W film that uses a color process to develop?

Hi wwRobertFoxcom….. no…. Ilford FP4 and HP5 are true black and white films and its Kodak that makes a variable speed b/w style colour film. Its called CN400 and its marked process C41 on the box….. its quite good film and I’m happy to use it particularly when I don’t have access to a darkroom for processing but I prefer true black and white where possible….. much better than C41 or even digital for particular things…...

In 1982, I used an Illford B&W film that was a color process to shoot some blues bands. I remember it was ASA 25— very slow, but I got some good results metering for room light and using a flash fill to freeze detail.
Lately I’ve been experimenting with infrared and converting that to B&W.
You have a darkroom? I miss hanging around the darkroom. I learned so much just watching. I don’t even know of anyone with a darkroom now.

you must have been using …I think…. Ilford XP1 variable type film…don’t know if they still make it actually…...
I love blackandwhite IR film and do a lot with it…. but I shoot in bw and then take it from there…... I love it…..
and yes lucky me I have dark room and a lightroom…..also I work as a studio technican at a small art school and manage the darkroom there as well….. and I love it to bits…... I have so much fun showing the young students how to use film….... they love it too….... :)
