strange daze are here again
Back in the olden days if you wanted to get some interesting textures on to a model…. there was no photoshop about then infact it wasn’t even a twinkle in it’s inventors eye…so what you had to do was line up a lovely model and project interesting images over him or her…. like in these strange daze images I’m uploading.
The images from this series turned up amongst some of my late fathers photographic archive which I’ve been endeavouring to sort out and digitize. I don’t know who the model is or why or when they were taken but the make up and hair on the model just shreaks ‘eighties’ to me…. so some love from way back when…. with thanks to my very very clever Dad…. enjoy

still a very cool technique I think. a chick who was at my uni did a series of them and they turned out brilliantly…. have a look see and here and there are a few more in her portfolio
you do have a clever dad by the way, this is way cool =D
Juilee Pryor replied
hi jem…yes I’m so stoked with these… I’m going to be putting a few of them up just to see what sort of reaction they get… I checked out Alice’s work too… very very cool…. good tip off…. thanks for that… and yes isn’t it a cool technique …. these are just so much fun…. :)

wow.. i could look at this forever. I love the relationship between the pose of the girl and the man and how he seems to fit inside her. Kind of makes me think about a good/bad voice whispering in your ear? And how the cracks streamline over the shapes on her body, which doesn’t even appear naked until you really look…
Reminds me of an early Chili Peppers music video!
Juilee Pryor replied
hey there raae… there are some real crackers coming up with bodies postioned inside bodies….. it’s just not something you see a lot of in these days of instant textures avaiable online…. the cracks of the desert scape and the images of christ et al on the bodies of these girls really are just something else…stay tuned…. more coming up….. and hey really glad you like this….. :)

I worked on stuff all weekend, the neighbors entertained us with fire works, and then there was rain. :-)
Juilee Pryor replied
entertaining neighbours fireworks and rain… sounds like you got most of the major criteria covered…. did you guys have a bbq as well…? it’s almost law here on Australia day to have barbie and some beers…. just the thing for the end of summer….. :)

ah thats why the projector is in the cupboard at the studio…I think I’m going to have a lot of fun with this :) very effective Juilee
Juilee Pryor replied
gee I love my old projector… I would never give it up… and yes Alf I think you would do some lovely work with this method… especially when you some of the next ones I put up…. they are awesome even if I do say so myself…. they are just so different to anything else I’m seeing at the moment…. which has to be a good thing lets face it….:)
Soxy Fleming
fabulous technique and one I still haven’t tried. But I will get out that projector!
Juilee Pryor replied
yes this is such an old fashioned method but it’s got heaps of go in it…. and you can get such interesting images just with a bit of careful placement of the model… some of the next ones will have full bodies inside bodies… give it a go and see what you can come up with….. you’d love this I;m sure and be wonderfully good at it I’d bet as well…...:)
Mel Brackstone

Those were the days, before photoshop, when dinosaurs roamed the streets. Your dad certainly did some interesting work Juilee, these shots are wonderful. It must be a great buzz to go through his work and find such treasures :-)
Juilee Pryor replied
hi Matt and thanks…. and yes go go the dinosaur technology… I love it… been doing lots of cyantypes of late and that is another gorgeous dinosaur in the photograhic canon….. these shots are a real hoot mind and there are some real knockouts to come…. my clever old dad hey …:)

The ability to make great Art is genetic-these shots prove it!
Juilee Pryor replied
oh ha that comment has really made me smile… and yes maybe… he was much more clever with techique than me though…. he was the real photographer in the family… I was more into corrupting the photo’s to make artistic statements I think… anyway for all that yes we were a lot alike…. so I will take that as a compliment… thanks lovely man…...:)
