sunrise on a stormy morning
sometimes the best sunrises to be seen are on mornings when the sky is just seething with the promise of storms all day… like here when I braved the wretched weather and was rewarded with a few moments of true golden glory as the sun rose into the heavy cloud mass …. interestingly as the sun rose the sky just got darker and darker and as the storms out to sea got closer and closer I couldn’t bring myself to leave the vantage point I had. I ended up taking a whole series of quite amazing shots in sequence before the rain hit and I had to make a dash for shelter. And as it’s a grey rainy day here again I’m going to post a few of those shots today starting with this one….

so there indeed…:) Port Kembla is like 20 K or so south from here…. and your welcome to stay… I have a sleep out/verhanda at the back of the house that is open for people to come and camp out. And I’m really good at making themoses of tea in the dark and getting people out of bed to shlep down to the beach for the dawn light show from heaven….better than telly I reckon…last time a friend came to stay from Melb… at Easter long weekend… he was able to get a spectacular sunrise and a full moon rising from the sea in a two day stay… and he was stoked….and a month or two later then he shlepped of too the US for work and got a few shots of the Shuttle lifting off into space…. a very happy chappy….. :)

Juilee-I would have given almost anything to have experienced this sight for real, there is nothing that quite catches my imagination in the same way as a stormy sea/skyscape combination. Factor in the fiery ascent of “big yellow” to add to the drama and I am truly smitten.

hello gorgeous… this was one of those mornings when I sooo didn’t want to get out of bed but ended up taking a whole series of just spectaular shots… trouble with it now is trying to decide which ones to post…. could be a few more of these stormy sunrise shots coming up…and some really are just amazing…. and that is just down to the luck of the day… and close proximity to a dramatic spot to shoot from…oh and a raincoat…...:)
