what breed of camera were you canting darling?

I was using a brand new (17 year old)... from the op shop ….. Minolta 7000 SLR that I got for $20… and a roll of black and white film that I processed myself in a rush…. and you can really tell and all…..
lostboy13
it takes a good photo, was it old film you used as well? or you also got a mystery film with the cam?
Juilee Pryor replied
nah my fridge is full of old film…. I buy when ever I see it and go into camera shops and ask them for all there out of date film…. I like to let it mature a bit….like cheese….. and it’s a fabulous camera …. I’m stoked
I had been seriously considering spending three and a half grand on a brand new Lieca digilux 3…. but when it right down to it I realized that I only take photo’s to amuse myself and then usually to make images that become artworks in one form or the other so really it was a bit silly to spend that much…. maybe next year when I go overseas again….. duty free would have to make it a bit better… and digital comes into it’s own when your travelling… all you need is a laptop and hey presto….. but here it’s not really necessary

Cool you positioned the reflection so it looks like she`s holding the car. And yeah, looks like your film`s a bit on the ripe side, which is cool. It`s the reason why I had so much fun with Infra red film… you never know what you`re gonna get. I`ve still got 5 rolls in the freezer, living next to the vodka. Think at least 3 of them are goin on 10 years!
The Leica`s a wicked wet dream that I guess anyone would be chuffed to own. But if you`re gonna make the switch, you should just go for the least expensive full frame model you can get, even if it`s the original EOS 5D. I`d think they`ll be dirt cheap by the time you`re ready to buy. They can cram as many pixels into a 24×16 sensor they want, but it`s much the same as the difference between 35mm and medium format film. Bigger in this case IS better. Fortunately you`ve got the luxury of not being in a hurry. You lucky duck!

hey billyboy thanks…. and you have 5 as in five rolls of infrared film in the fridge!!!! .... you have my full attention…...:) is it Kodak Hi Speed B/W?....they don’t make that any more so you know thats very desirable film to any one who knows about these things….
I love infrared…. it’s my favorite to be honest … all that shooting blind and not being able to calibrate the shot and all the rest of it….. good one…..
and the leica… sigh…. I really have fully researched it and the leica is just perfect for me… it’s a SLR on the front and DSLR on the back…..no program modes only aperture contol and it’s small…. I like small but powerful cameras…..I like to sneak up on vistas and such like so I can catch them unawares…..
I’ve road tested a EOS 5D and it was great but big and heavy I thought…. and I never really work in a studio so a big camera becomes a bit of a liablity in some situations….. the leica has that small sleek appeal of a really nice lilttle sports car….. a beautiful object to love as well as a finely tooled machine to use and abuse….. you know how it is…......:)

Wow, I SO hope you get the Leica… sounds like a match made in heaven!
Unfortunately, I`ve used up all the IR film and only have some Ilford and Fuji Reala neg fil left. Yup, it was Kodak high speed. I bracketed like crazy and still sometimes ended up with nothing. But when it clicked, it was awesome. Got a couple in my pf if you`re interested… Gaspar`s Shop , taken on the A1A between Daytona Beach and St. Augustine, Florida… Alone on Stilts taken around the same area… and Indian River Fruit , one of my all time favs. Used to change the film in a dark closet. People could never get their heads around why I needed to go in there for five mins… they always thought I looked guilty when I came out. And my Canon EOS 100 had an infrared frame counter so I fogged my first reel completely. Used a Mamiya SLR for all my IR stuff in the end.
So cool you`re interested in that dying art. Don`t know if anyone could process it anymore even if they still made it. At least we had some fun, yeah? Hugs2U!

All my most serious work is IR based and I process all my own films….. bit of D76 or Perceptol and it’s all go….. I love the way of working with it…. I like to think you need to almost be a blind photographer to really be able to use this stuff…. you need to be able to feel for the image…...
I did some IR work in Antarctica…. now that was cool….... :)
