another muted landscape
I’m developing a new body of work of an exhibition later in the year and am trying out a few ideas for presenting the works…. a couple of days ago I uploaded muted landscape and asked for feedback and that’s been great…. now I’m looking at a different way of presenting the work… perhaps forget the frames all together and have each of the pairs printed like this at close to mural size on a black background and then suspend them in the gallery…... hmmmm this could all change again tomorrow…... but let me know what you think about losing the white of the border that comes with actual framing…..
thanks

Given the shading in the work the black is not as distracting as white
Juilee Pryor replied
hi and thanks Andy…. yes I think it works really differently with out the matt white in the mix….. I’m leaning towards this way to be honest…...... :)

I think I like the black with the white combined….this version seems a little sombre….and I don’t think it will stand out so well against a dark wall…just mho though…
Juilee Pryor replied
thanks Mel and your right… I’ve been toggling between them and the white matt break actually pulls the images right out somehow…..hmmm bit more thinking need I think… I do really like stuff that is well framed though…. it becomes part of the artwork….... cheers again

Hi Julie How is my favourite un-photographer. If it was mine there would be no question. The dark shades at the bottom of the shot would “float ” on white and the frame then becomes dominant
Juilee Pryor replied
hi and you make me smile….. so your with Mel then? perhaps the white matt helps pop the image out a bit more ….somehow makes the two images blend into something the brain reads as harmonious more easily….. I’m going to keep thinking about this for a while yet….but thanks for responding…....:)

I’ve always been a fan of the unframed look. Frames often distract the eye from the subject matter.
Juilee Pryor replied
thanks for your imput Pat… it’s a real dilemma to be honest…. weather to frame or not…. not framing the works saves heaps of money and that’s good and suspended works look good in the gallery context but less good in a private situation. I probably will end up framing them somehow but at this stage I’m really not sure how….. sigh… decsions decsions….

Well, a buyer could make that decision for themselves. No frame requires a large empty space.

This one stands out the most…from all of them.
Very lovely work.
