I stood at this spot, zoomed in tight w/ a Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 300mm 2.8 lens for a long time, hoping this bird would take flight. Patiently waiting as the sun rose further and further in the sky watching and waiting. Even consciously pleading and willing him to fly. It never happened, so I eventually decided to switch cameras and lenses and take in the big picture. As I packed up and walked away, he took off. It was glorious, of course…go figure.
