Blue hour is a brief period of time during what is more commonly known as The Golden Hour, or Magic Hour. Specifically, the time when the sun is between 10º and 14º above or below the horizon. When the sun is between these points, sunlight travels through more of the atmosphere, reducing the intensity of the direct light, so that more of the illumination comes from indirect light, thus reducing the lighting ratio. Tweaking of in camera settings and/or the use of filters can exacerbate or reduce this effect.
