One of the lures of shooting and editing is the escape. Not from a troubled reality, quite the contrary, but creating a dream. A fantasy perhaps. Sharing our soul sounds so very clicheic, but how can art, not contain the vision and personal influences of its creator? I didn’t really understand what someone meant when they said they were ‘sharing their soul’ with their art, but the more I explore the medium of photography, the more I feel the same.

My sister-in-law and a family friend sailing their catamaran. Having only a 70-200 2.8 lens and a 2x converter, I just couldn’t get close enough without a significant crop in post. So what was I to do…yep, walk out into the water, up to my shoulders, and wait for them to pass by. Thank goodness for calm seas. lol
