~~.!|||||| - Square I
A series about square formats with the horizon exactly in the middle.
There’s a man standing on those posts…
Underexposing the sky while slightly over-exposing the water.
Shot at Domburg beach in The Netherlands.
10 stops ND filter

A few miles further down the beach I captured this:

I adore this shot. Love the minimalist look. And combined with the b&w and long time exposure, it’s just a perfect shot. It blows me away that there’s a man standing out there. And you got just the right perspective to keep him spot on the horizon. Fabulous work!

All your work inspires me , I’m off to ebay to get a 10 stop ND!!!!
Joel Tjintjelaar replied
Thank you and good luck, there seems to be a worldwide shortage for 10 stops ND filters… they are very hard to get.

Brilliant work Joel, great use of the black glass :)

The tones in this one are really appealing, slightly blueish tint gives a very cold feeling which works well with the exposure.
Joel Tjintjelaar replied
Yes the blue-ish tint is selenium. I’ve came to know that Ansel Adams also used selenium in his photos to get a deep dark black tone.
