This book attempts to provide a philosophical and educational rationale for peace education. The book examines five philosophical traditions – virtue ethics, consequentialist ethics, conservative political ethics, aesthetic ethics and ethics of care, and examines how each might provide a rationale for peace education.
The Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koichiro Matsuura, writes in the Foreword that the book “provides a timely exposition of what might be argued to be a philosophy of peace education. … As such it offers an important addition to the emerging literature on peace education and the culture of peace, as well as an important commentary on the peace mission of UNESCO”.
This book, published through Information Age Publishing, aims to provide a rationale and foundation for peace education. Foreword by Koichiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO.
