Nerodia taxispilota is a non-venomous watersnake commonly found throughout the Floridian peninsula, as well as much of southeast United States. Genetically, they’re closely related to the diamondback watersnake found from Texas, Oklahoma and northward through the U.S. interior. Unlike their relatives in the interior, I find brown watersnakes to be fairly mild-mannered in temperament.

Thank ya, Steve. The little twig by the head bugs me, but I like the colors. And I take what I can get!
