The coloring of Paris, Republique , outdoor street scenes

Born in 1943 in Saratoga Springs, New York, Simone survived both the stinging winters of this small Adirondack mountain town and the absence of any grand opportunities.
In the mid 2000’s and most recently, Simone has turned to paying “homage” to the old master artists, especially Johannes Vermeer, by creating a body of work that pays tribute to this master’s skills of light, position, balance, color and theme.

    Well painted!!

  • Hi Heather. Thanks. This was a bit tedious. I did not have his original and had to guess alot on the coloring from the fifth picture of the original. Love to hear your comments. I am on your site.

    Another magnificent image, Joseph!

  • Thanks Gordon. I like this becuase it has four scenes that I have found in three other impressionistic artists of that time. They sat at various posts and drew the same place from different angles. i did see that they capture the same coloring.

Once again the spirit of the origin is reborn in your hands. Wonderful depth, perspective and figure work.

  • bloody great ompliment Roger. Wonderfult to hear your wordss of encouragement. These men who painted this scene often saw it from a parrallax view. But in the end they saw what we can only imagine today. That is why I love the old world. Where can you get fabric, building, lighting or lack thereof, serentiy like this.

    Beautiful colours Joseph

  • Thanks Terri. I had struggled with this one becuase I have little to go on. A fifth or sixth level photo without color codes or idea of mixtures. Its a guess but in the end I deeply appreciate your comments and encouragement.

    Wonderful Joseph, simply wonderful :o)x

  • Thank you Josie. I saw this work and saw also that a few other Impressionists of that time painted this Popular place de al Republique from various posts. It was enthralling to capture that time and almost feel likre I lived there then. Wonderful to hear from you
