Sometimes goals can be unreachable with the soccer net of the universe always out of reach. Then there are days when goals are in hand, in view, close enough to taste. Those are the days of living, truly living and yet, what would they be without the days of time falling through our fingers, nothing in sight but striving and experiences that leave a bad taste in our mouths.
I once ran track because I loved to run but I wasn’t competitive. At the moment I can’t remember the person that Coach Chance quoted but the quote was, “Never look back, they might be gaining on you.” The Mission at Capistrano in California has a motto of “Never look back always look foward.” Then there are the zen practitioners who say we only have this now…which is true. Yet, if we don’t remember our strivings, learn from the moment and look toward hope what do we have but striving.
Goals. We all have them. May we remain steadfast to the journey.
