My Red Bubble Gallery site is here

Welcome to my Red Bubble Gallery. I now have a small but diverse, and growing selection of photography on display and available for purchase in various forms. Some of it is recent and some of it is out of my “archives” of scanned slides. I even have a few scans of the medium format negatives that we have found in my fathers “archives”, some of which date back to the 1930’s. I hope you can find something here that catches your interest.

I invite any comments or critiques that you may have about any of my work and look forward to seeing them.

My first camera was a Graflex Century 35, a 35mm film rangefinder camera. It was fully manual with shutter speeds from 1 to 1/500th of a second, and a 45mm f2.8 lens that stopped down to f22. Typical of the time, there was no light meter. Yes, that was quite some time ago as I entered high school. I learned to develop and print black and white working for the school yearbook, and at some point actually started buying Tri-X film in 100 foot rolls, rolling it into the cassettes myself. Later I shifted over more to color work (Kodachrome mostly) and started to make my own prints on Cibachrome.

Some time around the college years I moved up to a Nikkormat FTn, and I am still with Nikon, though I am currently using a D700 with a number of accumulated lenses.

I have accumulated a lot of material over the years, some of which may actually be interesting, and as time permits I am scanning those to see what I can make of them. Of course I am still generating new work, and trying to learn new tricks when I can. I’ve been dabbling in HDR lately, but haven’t been able to make much more than a mess with it so far. Maybe later…
