They put this memorial in the town square where I live shortly before my only son who was 18 departed for Iraq. Everytime I drove past I wouldn’t look that direction.

The war stories I have heard, the photos I have seen the shape our young men and women return home to us in, and even more important the ones that gave all make me ask why?

When I drive by this now I look everytime and thank God that my sons name is not on it and my heart goes out to the families of those that are.

Regardless of our views on war the reality is that there are men and women out there everyday giving their lives for what they believe in.
