From Pearl Harbor to Soul to Hoe Chi Min to Granada
Can you not see
That I am all ragged and torn.
From Kuwait to Iraq and back again
Can you not see
That I am all ragged and torn.
From Afghanistan, Pakistan, and probably Iran,
Can you not see
That I am all ragged and torn.
I am leaving out much but the point of this is-
It is time to stay home.
I am tired of losing my young men and women
It is time to stay home
To heal and mend, for
I am ragged and torn.
It is time to protect our borders
From sea to shining sea
It is time to stay home
It is time to heal and mend for
I am ragged and torn

Thank you so much for your comment. I really wish that it would reach the ones that could make it happen. My wife and I both served. And we have children still serving. Would appreciate there being able to come home.

I am Australian, not American, but your poem brought tears to my eyes. I was in your country for a couple of months in 06, just travelling around. My husband and I love the US and pray for your country. Ragged and torn, yes it’s time to stay home, heal and build. Us too.

Thank you so very much Estelle. Yes, I admit that my Land of Oppertunity was the biggest inspiration for this, it was also with thought to the worlds nations as a whole. If they took the time to stay home and heal their own wounds, there would not be so many new wounds worldwide. Just one old soldiers thoughts.
