As an artist when people see me draw or look at my works on the wall of a gallery, business or persons home. Some regular questions always come up so here i will attempt to answer some of them.
Q. How long does it take to draw one of your works on average?
A. Depending on the works detail and the medium (pencil or watercolour)
small works (aprox A4) take from 4 to 30 hours and the larger works
A3 and larger from 30hrs up to a couple of months (200+hrs aprox)
Q. What is the largest size piece of artwork you have created?
A. To date it has been 60” x 40” pieces on bainbridge illustration board
the pieces at this size take from 60 to 100+ hours when drawn with
pencil and a similar timeframe when painted.
Q. What medium do you paint in?
A. Mostly watercolour and at times with graphitint pencils
Q. What pencils do you use?
A. I use a variety of pencils though the main ones i draw with are
STAEDTLER mars lumograph in a variety of graphite densities
from F up to 5B rarely do i go to a darker lead than that.
Q. What inspires me as an artist and person in general
A. Life in general inspires me and the beauty of the natural world
and nature. fantasy and scifi movies are a big inspiritation and
motivating factor. Seeing works by other artists and reading books
get the imagination going help the list of motivational factors
really is extensive.
