This is the original tailless lioness of the Tsalala pride looking at the 4 males of the Majingilane coalition nearby.The young cub and the 2 sub adult females look anxious and frightened.The cub was not at risk as all 4 mated with his mom ,but the sub adults were at risk as not all 4 mated with their mother.At the time of this shot they were only 20 metres away from the nearest male! The rain had finally stopped but they were all wet and the light was still not good for photo`s.

I am an amateur photographer and mostly photograph wildlife and have a special love for WILD big cats and birds.I am self taught and have never attended a course in photography.I exclusively photograph animals in the WILD which is always challenging! I use only canon equipment and now have 7d , t3i,and power shot 40 sx hs camera`s and use canon 28-135 mm,70-200mm f 2.8 ,100-400mm f 5.6,and 500mm f/4 lenses.

  • Thanks,AuntDot,i think the 2 sub adult females were terrified and kept cuddling with each other and moving forward slowly,the cub made the first contact with the males and have a neat shot of that :)
