This is one of the lions(Panthera leo) of the selati coalition who had been sleeping and was just waking up to start their night time hunt.We were quite close as the 3 visible members of this coalition were fast asleep and we hoped to watch them as they became active. This yawning activity is a sign that he is soon going to stand up and start moving which he did.Got this close up since i had the 500mm lens on..but was 15 meters away !

I am an amateur photographer and mostly photograph wildlife and have a special love for WILD big cats and birds.I am self taught and have never attended a course in photography.I exclusively photograph animals in the WILD which is always challenging! I use only canon equipment and now have 7d , t3i,and power shot 40 sx hs camera`s and use canon 28-135 mm,70-200mm f 2.8 ,100-400mm f 5.6,and 500mm f/4 lenses.
