Love of dogs transcended the language barriers. by

We noticed this dear old chap crossing the road with his master in Sorrento, on the Amalfi Coast of Italy. Through the master’s broken English and Frank’s atrocious Italian we understood that the dog was 18, blind and deaf, but still contentedly plodding through life. The dog’s master was bent over, a little unkempt and also in his twilight years. There were tears in his eyes as he spoke about his lifelong friend. This beautiful dog had clearly touched his master’s heart, and was much loved. It was a special moment in our holiday.

Very sweet story! He looks well for an 18 year old.

  • Thankyou very much for your lovely comments Angie. He does look in good shape for his age. He was going for a very slow walk with his master.

awww… joycee… tearing at the heart strings here!

  • Thanks Deenie. We who are dog lovers, understand this feeling all too well, don’t we? It is part of the deal we strike, when we buy a tiny puppy. We know this day will eventually come. It is all worth it though, as they give us so much in return for so little really.
