Any suggestions about how this shot could be improved are welcome. (Of course it would mean having to go back and reshoot, but I could live with that!)

I would try to angle your shot more off to the right, to get rid of the tall bright building on the left because it’s too distracting. Also, if you could get more of the sky in the shot. A sunnier day might give you a crisper reflection of the structure reflected in it as well. That’s about all I’ve got… good luck, I’d love to see the new version whatever you do! :)

Sorry – just realise that I replied to you as a “comment”...it’s below. Thanks!

Had another go with the original. A little better, I think, but not the same as a sunnier day! It’s title is just Science Museum Sphere II

I agree with ys-eye. Definitely get rid of the building and choose a sunny day. Also, I think the reflection in the water would be nice to see, so I would try to get the whole basin in the frame, as straight as possible, which means shooting further from the left (which automatically gets rid of the building on the left too). On a sunny day you would have two reflections on the ball: one from the water basin and one from the blue sky. I’m sure it would look amazing! :)

Thank you. Looks like I will have to return. One day!

I just had another close look at the image and only when looking really closely I noticed the reflection on the “ball”, which looks great and which I assume was the reason why you took the photo in the first place :) I only saw the reflection now because of the framing that points the viewers’ attention to the ball as a whole (and even the surrounding landscape) and not so much to the reflection on it. If I were you I’d give it another crop to get rid of the building on the left and most of the grey sky which distracts the viewers’ attention away from the reflection, the actual stunning part of the picture. I hope this helps :) I’m also hoping for a sunny day for you to go back to Paris – I’d love to go too!

Thank you for taking the time! This one is the original – the other has the same name but is II ~ not very original in the title. I droped out the building, and added some “tint”. I appreciate your feedback, thanks!
