a very noisy insect, the cicada nymph can live underground for seven years and shed their skin as they grow because their skin does not stretch.

Hi Rosie, thank you so much, glad you like it, thank goodness we don’t have their noise here in Tassie, they can be very deafening. :o)x

Hi Trudi, they are quite amazing insects, thank you so very much :o)x
They are so handsome – was just thinking we have them early this year – they have been singing for a couple of weeks! What do you mean about not having their noise in Tassie??? Do you not have them, or do they refrain from singing?!!
This one was very small, It’s the first one I’ve seen here, and I’ve never actually heard them , perhaps they are in other parts of Tassie, not too sure, thanks for looking Rosale :o) x
Seven years?! This is an awesome macro Josie! Such fabulous details and even the eye looks as if it’s watching you shoot. :o)
Perhaps it was watching me Zoe, it was a very small one, yes, what a life living most of it underground, a bit boring I would say, thanks for liking it Zoe, :o)x
Great work Josie

The eye reflects the camera, and I bet the cicada reflected in the lens. Seems and endless reflection thing… Good close up Josie, and doing the descriptive comment like that is also good.
so glad you like it rj, thank you for your lovely comment :o)
