My mother passed away today, she was 96. Unfortunately I was not there as my mum is in England and I am here in Tassie. It all happened so suddenly, I received a phone call from my brother 2 days ago saying mum has only 2 days to live and it has been the worst 2 days of my life, he brought her home from hospital, where she had been for a few days, we didn’t want her to die in a strange place, she died at peace in her own bed surrounded by some of her family.
My brother put the phone to her ear, she could hear me but couldn’t answer, I told her I loved her, it was so hard, I miss her so much. Mum had 15 children, but sadly there are only 6 of us left, she saw a lot of death in her life, but she had a wonderful life and died happy.
Families are so precious, it’s such a shame that we move away from each other and find that the only times we get together is at a funeral. At least we have internet which keeps us all in touch.
Love your families and always be there for them…… Josie
