AFRICA -CALENDERLINKTaken while on Charity Mission work in Remote Tunga/Zuga Village, Kebbe state, Nigeria.
Its early morning and the sound of the rooster and children coughing and crying breaks the silence of the night as morning breaks.
I bathed in a small basin of water that was left outside my hut during the night. The water was a dark brown color and cold. my thoughts were filled with memories of the night before as I preached the Good news of God to the peoples, and especially the children That were brought forward for me to pray for.
These thoughts were with me as I walked around the village observing the children and the different activities that were going on. Parents preparing what little food they had for their families, before they went to the fields to work. grandparents, some very weak in body shuffling around with swollen joints and one old lady groped around as she was blind.
I stopped for a while and watched this mother and children that had come forward for Prayer the night before. I then went and sat down beside them and this excited the children very much, and caused a little jealousy among the other villagers.
I noticed as she would take the lid of the pot and occasionally stir it, and there was a carrot, some other green vegetable and a small Yam, inside the pot. This is all she had to feed her husband and children all day long. Harvest in this area come regularly, but because the village is poor they cannot afford the tools, fertilizers and seeding enough food and that which does grow is poor quality. the rainy season lasted much longer in the past 6 years, which causing damage to their crops.
The Children that are under 4 years old will stay in the village with Grandparents and elders who are to weak to work the land, while their parents go to work on their little plot of land.
I like the evenings best here, as all the parents and some grandparents return from the fields. children sence when its near their time to return and watch to see them coming from a distance. As soon as they return the younger children run strait to mummy for breast milk. Its such a loving and tender moment to witness these special moments.
Life is hard here and its in places like this that Philadelphia Mission Charity work. Many Agencies, NGO,s Church Missions and others will not come here as its so remote and harch living conditions. But its our mission to reach all in remote and rural villages with the word of God. Also through donations we provide Care, Clothing, Water pumps, Water filter straws and much more.
Please Pray for us and Please take a step today and make a donation so we can really bless these poor precious people.
