1st Samuel 22:2 – “And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men”.

Beloved of God,
Have you ever wondered what the daily routine was at Cave Adullam, where David was hiding with four hundred debtors, discontented and distressed men? I have.

These were desperate men with nothing else to lose in life. They were witnesses to how David defeated Goliath of Gath and knew that it was divinely orchestrated, thus, their reason for joining themselves to him, a fellow fugitive. While David was running away from Saul, they were running away from debt, stress, and discontentedness, indeed from life generally!

David must have taught them how to trust in God with reckless abandon. How God is the only solution and hope for coming out of stress, debt, discontentment, and any other imaginable problem. He must have repeated the wondrous feat God performed through him – killing a lion and a bear with bare hands, Goliath with a stone, and others!

Did David’s teaching work? 2nd Samuel 23 confirmed that it did.. Those losers in life without hope became David’s mighty men. The writer of 2nd Samuel took time to write down their names and their awesome exploits! They were physically, emotionally, financially and spiritually transformed!

Are you in debt, distressed, discontented and uncomfortable with your present situation in life? David will not help you. There is no more cave Adullam to go to. But, the same God and His word that changes bad situations is available to and for you!

GOD’S WORD BRINGS DESIRED CHANGE AND INCREASE.
