Take Time to Listen
We often do not truly listen to those who come to us for advice, comfort or help. Please read “Take Time to Listen”, and see if you are one of those who does not listen.
Take Time to Listen belongs to the following groups:
Living ChristianitySt John 4:7-29.
Many Times when someone comes to us for advice of just to share with us their troubles, we are sometimes quick to give a hasty excuse or a quick answer. In this life we need friends and each other at times just to share our struggles or worries with. but when they need us, we often do not listen.
We say “Don’ t worry, it will all work out”, or “Just Pray about it”. We sometimes cut off the needy one or distressed one with a short quick answer. We all have done this at some point in time.
What I am about to share with you is some precious leasons, The Holy Spirit showed me in St Johns account of Jesus Meeting with the woman at the well.
Lets read the account:
John 4:7-29.
[6] And Jacob’s well was there. Jesus, therefore, being wearied with His journey, sat thus upon the well. It was about the sixth hour.
(7) A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, Give me to drink.
(8) (For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.)
(9) Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, How do you, being a Jew, ask a drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews do not associate with Samaritans.
(10) Jesus answered and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that says to you, Give Me to drink, you would have asked of Him, and He would have given you living water.
(11) The woman said to Him, Sir, you have no vessel, and the well is deep. From where then do you have that living water?
(12) Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his children and his cattle?
(13) Jesus answered and said to her, Whoever drinks of this water shall thirst again,
(14) but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
(15) The woman said to Him, Sir, give me this water, so that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.
(16) Jesus said to her, Go, call your husband and come here.
(17) The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said to her, You have well said, I have no husband
(18) for you have had five husbands, and he whom you now have is not your husband. In that you spoke truly.
(19) The woman said to Him, Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.
(20) Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
(21) Jesus said to her, Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you shall neither worship the Father in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem.
(22) You worship what you do not know, we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.
(23) But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to worship Him.
(24) God is a spirit, and they who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
(25) The woman said to Him, I know that Messiah is coming, who is called Christ. When He has come, He will tell us all things.
(26) Jesus said to her, I AM, the One speaking to you.
(27) And upon this His disciples came and marveled that He talked with the woman. However, no one said, What do You seek, or why do You talk with her?
(28) The woman then left her waterpot and went into the city and said to the men,
(29) Come see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Is this One not the Christ?
What this lady did not know when she arose from her bed that morning was, that she had a divine appointment with the Son of God.
*.Why did the woman say to Jesus “Why are you a Jew asking me, a Samaritan woman to give you water?
[A].It was because the Jews disliked the people of Samaria, becasue they were a mixed race of people. They inter-married with others that were not Jew or of the same race of tribe. So she was confused that even a jew would want to speak to her. racial discrimination is not new folks, it is very old.
In Verse 16 Jesus says “Call your husband”. She answered I have no Husband. now Jesus made it plain that he already knew this. Yet He took the time to intice her to get into conversation with him.
In Verse 29 “Come see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Is this One not the Christ? Jesus Knew everything about her. He knew where she lived, the lifestyle she lived and the bed partners she slept with. He knew her thoughts, and the deep sadness, and emptiness she felt inside. Yet he took time to listen to this woman.
Even though he could have revealed himself at the beginning and told her all that she had done, he sat and listened,
May Preachers throughout the years give the impression that this was a brief moment, a few minutes in conversation. But it was not. We see from what the woman said to her friends when she returned home that Jesus had told her everything that she had done, [In Detail].
My precious Friends, Jesus, Gods Son, who knew all things about all people, took the time to allow this woman to tell her story to him.
Should we not also who do not know all things, at least listen to those who come to us for help, advice, direction and comfort?.
Jesus is a personal Saviour. He is your Personal best friend. When someone comes to you for help, please listen to what they say. try and understand their stress and hurt, before you give an answer. Even though you may know thir challange already, or have the answer. Be like Jesus and take the time to listen.
After all, Jesus knows alll about you, and he always take time to listen you you, before he answers. Part of healing is being able to share your hurts with someone who truly listens.
God Bless You
