What NASA did was point the telescope at an “empty” piece of sky, about the size of a grain of sand held up at the end of the telescope. They exposed the imager for hours and hours and hours and what they got was an image of thousands of galaxies as they looked billions of years ago.
The size of the universe is almost incomprehensible to most humans.
I suspect that you’re able to fathom those relationships and numbers because people who make and view art are smarter than the average bear.
