Delta IV Heavy NROL-49 Successful Launch by

At 1:10 pm today, the largest rocket launched from a West Coast facility lifted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California for the US National Reconnaissance Office.

Vapor trails suddenly stopped after forming from the rocket’s hot exhaust. Typically, any trails behind rockets are due to solid fuel; however, this was a liquid fuel rocket and so the condensation was due to moisture in the air.

All you can see of the rocket are the head and three side-by-side rocket engines.
