tragically lonely

the empty faces like beer bottles on the floor
look at me vacantly with eyes that are are cored
this dance is deadly in its melody and medley
rain falls down on sleepy heads weeping
tragically lonely, unhappy and carefree
like my message and the bottle floating out to sea
tragically lonely, scarred by the unseen
wanting of a thing that keeps you wanting
these ancient hearts sitting in bosoms of glass
were held by thorns in the past
and the lies that cloud and obscure our way
have much to answer for, and nothing to say
these days you need to hold on to something
these are the days i need, i need

april 2 2000

for my birthday 1999 my eldest kyle got me two notebooks that i would write in for years. there are 2 pages left even now. (this cyber world is the last notebook. ) the first batch of poems are called a complication of lies.
i envisioned a novel of a love story and then wrote poetic fragments from the lives of the 2 characters. the real life love story of abraham lincoln and mary todd was a basis as was a THING i found myself going through.
the founding premise of the pieces being that once you say i love you it inevitably brings about a complication of lies.
