This male Darter Anhinga melanogater is a resident at a local lake I go to. He is very wary of what is going on around him so I often wait until he gets distracted by something else before moving closer.

Nice shot, really captured the details well.
Thanks for your kind words Edjamen. I have only had the new camera for a few months, such a big leap from my old Point and Shoot, but it’s fun learning.
Thank you Antanas, I really appreciate you taking the time to comment and even more thrilled that you added it to your favorites list, thanks again. :D
Hi Kathy, thank you very much. It appears that you have spent sometime shooting birds in the wild so it’s great to get positive feedback from someone that has a similar interest.
Interesting bird, much like the cormorant. Great capture!
Hey Tracey, thanks again. He is a fascinating bird but can also quite aloof if the mood strikes him. Funny you should mention the cormorant as I often see him hanging out with some Little Black Cormorants (amazing blue eyes).
Fantastic …. love the composition and you got the whole Darter pose!
Thanks BB, he is such a character, I have spent hours with him but I think I got lucky with this shot ….:)
