…seen from Gaia. The city of Porto is classified as world heritage by UNESCO. The truth is, for those who land on Porto’s airport, it really is worth to take the subway to the downtown of Gaia, walk down the hill torwards the river Douro and walk calmly through the “Cais de Gaia” area and admire the landscape/cityscape. When you’re hungry, don’t hesitate in go in into a restaurant and ask for a Francesinha, according to the Time magazine, one of the best 10 sandwiches in the world. Enjoy!
The boats are called “Rabelo” (Rabelos in the plural) and they are the traditional boats of this city. The wine makers that owned wine farms up in the river used to use these boats to carry the barrels down the river to the city of Gaia where the wine was stored and shiped all over the world and country. This wine is called Porto wine.
