This is the Store Mosse (Big Swamp) National Park on the northeast side. This side of the park is much different than the rest of the park. Here the park is more focused on bird watching and with paths and landscapes like this. This path has about 12km lenght and goes around a small lake where many birds can be seen most of the times.
Before the central part of the swamp became a National Reserve this was used as a peat “factory” employing hundreds of people. Some when in the beggining of the XXth century there was a huge fire at the warehouse destroying everything and the business shuted down.
Scientists say that in about 1000 to 2000 years there will be no more swamp left because the trees that grow up are slowlly draining the swamp and one day all of it will be forest. In the meanwhile you can go there and visit it.
