"Look Me In The Eye And Tell Me You're Not Going To Eat Me" by

A Cormorant at Glen Helen Gorge, Northern Territory, Australia. After spearing a fish, the Cormorant took several goes to try and get the fish off its beak to the inevitable……. Captured with my Canon 7D and 400mm L lens. At this point the fish and bird were eye to eye for a split second…

I’m just getting back in photography after a long spell with just a point and shoot digital.

In June 2011, I bought my first DSLR and have become infected with the photography bug for the second time in my life.

I am in awe of the talent here on Red Bubble and that inspires me to become a better photographer.

Thanks for stopping by……… :)

A cracker of a shot mate and very similar to one I took whilst up on the Mary River a few weeks ago. Only in my case a few seconds after I’d taken it a hawk (or similar) came hurtling down from an overhanging tree and took it right out of the cormorant’s mouth! Your timing on this one was impeccable and I believe the bird is the one they call the snake head darter.
    All best wisahes

  • G’day Peter, thanks very much for the comprehensive reply. I think you are spot on with the bird. I remeber the guide at kakadu descrivbing them as such. I will have a look at your pic too, if you posted it. Thanks very much for stopping by. I appreciate it. :)
